Abstract: The Sixth President Dr. John C. Orr Collection contains material related to the tenure of the sixth president of the College of St. Francis, Dr. John C. Orr (1974-1995). It contains correspondence, photographs, reports, and materials related to conferences and meetings attended by the President. It also contains inauguration materials.

History: Dr. John C. Orr was named the College’s sixth president in 1974. He came to the school when it was still recovering from the de-merger with Lewis and was trying to find its footing. The school was rapidly growing with new athletic programs and an assortment of new students. President Orr planned to “continue to build on the ideals of St. Francis and the traditions of the college.” He held the position for the longest of any president so far. He was in office for twenty-one years from 1974-1995, spending two decades serving and leading at CSF.
