Abstract: The Seventh President Dr. James A. Doppke Collection contains material related to the tenure of the seventh president of the University of St. Francis, Dr. James A. Doppke (1992-2002). It contains correspondence, photographs, reports, and materials related to conferences and meetings attended by the President. It also contains inauguration materials.

History: Dr. James A. Doppke became the President of University of St. Francis in 1995. He joined the college in 1989 as the Academic Dean and Executive Vice President. Prior to that, he was an associate provost at Chicago State University, and a professor of English at Wright College. Online classes were first offered during his USF tenure in 1997. The following year in, the college’s status changed from a college to a university.

Between 1999 and 2000, the University received a 10-year accreditation from North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; and in 2000 a regional center was opened in Albuquerque, New Mexico offering Physician Assistant studies. Dr. Doppke was a member of the Rotary Club of Joliet, the Will County Chamber of Commerce-Joliet, and the Will County Center for Economic Development Foundation Board of Trustees.
